Grades 4-8:

What to bring to a match:
Required-

  • team t-shirt (or your school's P.E. shirt)
  • shorts (or a tennis skirt) w/a pocket to hold 2nd serve ball*
  • sneakers
  • tennis racquet

Recommended-

  • hat or visor
  • water

Players and parents must know the rules. You can download the rules from the home page. Parents are not permitted to make line calls or offer advice. Parents and siblings must remain on the outside of the fence when observing a match. The only exception to this is for the Wimbledon I beginner division. An adult (who is not a parent of an on-court player) will stand at the net for each Wimbledon I doubles match to assist with player positioning and help players to keep track of the score. Players will have the responsibility to call the ball in or out. Parents should remind players that if the player is not sure if the ball is in or out, then it is "in."

Please arrive at the match at least 30 minutes early to warm up . In most cases, another CYO match will be scheduled shortly after your match ends. So, if your match starts late, it will delay the following match.

Uniforms:
This is a team sport so all players should be dressed in a team uniform. Players should either wear their P.E. t-shirt and shorts with a pocket to hold their 2nd serve ball* or, a CYO tennis t-shirt if your school has one. CCD students should either buy a school P.E. shirt (ask your coach where to buy it), or wear the CYO tennis t-shirt.

*A player should not begin service until he/she has two balls. It slows down a match considerably when a player has to retrieve a 2nd serve ball from along the fence. Leaving the 2nd serve ball on the baseline is asking for a sprained ankle.

Grades 1-3:
The lower grades practice once a week and do not play competitive matches vs. other schools.
